Bert Brackett won't seek re-election

Dist. 23 state Sen. Bert Brackett (R-Rogerson) announced Tuesday morning through a media release that he will not seek a seventh term in the Idaho Senate.
Upon completion of his current term, the Three Creek rancher will have served 15 years in the state House of Representatives and Senate.
"I have great respect for those who know when it is time to step aside," the senator said. "I know that time for me is now."
Brackett expressed that he has been honored to have served District 23 for so long and vows to work hard through the end of his term.
All three District 23 legislative spots — the senate seat and two positions in the House of Representatives currently held by Republicans Christy Zito and Megan Blanksma — will be on the May primary ballot.
